The Hand That Holds
— Isaiah 41:10
Read at your own pace
The Hand That Holds
Sit. Hands on the knees, palms up. Open.
Read the verse, very slowly. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you. Notice the threefold promise.
If you are afraid today — of something specific, or something vague, or something you cannot name — the verse is not asking you to stop being afraid. It is asking you to notice who is with you in the fear.
Imagine a hand. Not yours. A larger, older hand, holding yours. It does not have to be visible. The hand is there.
When you stand up, take the hand with you.
A prayer
Lord, I am afraid. Be with me in the fear. I do not have to be unafraid. I only have to be held. Amen.
Scripture
"Do not fear, for I am with you. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
— Isaiah 41:10
For reflection
You do not have to be strong enough on your own. The hand is already there.
