Quietness and Trust
— Isaiah 30:15
Read at your own pace
Quietness and Trust
Sit. Or lie down. Whatever the body needs.
Read the verse twice. In returning and rest. In quietness and in trust.
The verse is not asking you to be loud in your faith. It is asking you to be still in it. To let the strength come from somewhere other than your own effort.
Notice how much of your day is a kind of striving. A doing. A making-it-happen. The verse is offering a different way: in returning, in rest, in quietness, in trust.
Let the breath slow. Let the body remember that strength is not always in the muscles. Sometimes it is in the willingness to be held.
Carry this with you today. The quiet way. The trust way.
A prayer
Lord, teach me the strength of quietness today. Teach me to stop, and to trust. Amen.
Scripture
"In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength."
— Isaiah 30:15
For reflection
Strength is often a quieter thing than we were taught. It is sometimes just the willingness to stop.
