Peace, Not as the World Gives
— John 14:27
Read at your own pace
Peace, Not as the World Gives
Sit. Notice the body. Notice the breath.
Read the verse slowly. Especially this part: I do not give to you as the world gives.
There is a different kind of peace being offered. Not the peace of everything going right. The peace of something going right inside you, even when nothing outside is going right.
Let the breath become the prayer. In — I receive the peace. Out — I let go of the trouble.
Stay a few more minutes. The peace is patient.
A prayer
Prince of Peace, I receive Your peace today — the kind that does not depend on the day. Amen.
Scripture
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid."
— John 14:27
For reflection
The world's peace is the absence of trouble. Christ's peace is the presence of something stronger than trouble.
