Kindness, First
— Ephesians 4:32

Kindness, First
Sit. Hands open. Soften the face.
Read the verse slowly. Be kind. Tenderhearted. Forgiving. As God in Christ forgave you.
Notice the structure: it does not say, be kind when they deserve it. Be kind — the way you have been forgiven.
So kindness is not a strategy. It is a memory. The memory of being forgiven, of being received, of being loved without having earned it.
You will meet people today. Strangers, perhaps. Be kind to them — not because they have earned it, but because you have been shown a kindness that does not run out.
A prayer
Lord, let me be kind today, even in the small ways. Especially in the small ways. Amen.
Scripture
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
— Ephesians 4:32
For reflection
Kindness is rarely loud. It is the small, soft gesture that the loud world does not even notice.
