Joy Comes in the Morning
— Psalm 30:5
Read at your own pace
Joy Comes in the Morning
Sit. Let the body feel what it feels.
Read the verse. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
The verse is not dismissing the night. It is not saying cheer up. It is saying: the night is real, and the morning is coming.
Where are you today? In the night? In the morning? Somewhere in between?
If you are in the night, hear this: the morning is not your job. You do not have to make the morning come. The morning is promised. Your only job tonight is to not give up on the dawn.
If you are in the morning, give thanks. The night passed. You are still here. That is the joy.
Either way, sit. Breathe. The verse is true. Morning is on its way.
A prayer
Lord of morning, meet me in the night. Carry me until the dawn. Amen.

For reflection
If it is night now, morning is coming. If it is morning, you have already been carried through.
