I Can, Through Him
— Philippians 4:13

I Can, Through Him
Sit. Notice the body.
Read the verse. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
It is tempting to read this as a superhero verse — the verse for accomplishing anything. But that is not what Paul meant. He was writing from prison, having lost almost everything. All things, for him, was the next small thing. The next letter. The next conversation. The next breath.
Today, the verse is for the next small thing. Not the whole day. Not the whole life. The next small thing.
Let the breath be the place where the strength arrives. In — I receive. Out — I let go.
The strength is not yours. It is the One who strengthens. The verse does not say I am strong. It says I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Carry that distinction with you today. You are not the source. You are the channel.
A prayer
Lord, give me strength for the next small thing. The rest is in Your hands. Amen.
Scripture
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
— Philippians 4:13
For reflection
All things does not mean everything. It means the things you are actually being asked to do today. The next small thing.
